Manage and share files from WordPress
Shared Files PRO is a file management and download manager for organizing documents and other files directly within a WordPress site. It provides a separate way to manage shared files, with tools for uploading, categorizing, displaying, previewing, and tracking downloads. The plugin can also be used as an administration-area file manager without publishing a file list on the front end.
Files can be listed in different layouts using shortcodes, making it possible to place downloadable content on pages and posts. Supported workflows include simple lists, two-column layouts, category lists, accordion displays, single-file pages, search-focused lists, and file upload forms.
File management and display
Add file names, descriptions, dates, expiration dates, categories, tags, and custom field data. Files are isolated from the WordPress Media Library, while Media Library files can also be activated for use in Shared Files. FTP files can be uploaded and activated with a single click. You can upload multiple files, group files, or specify an external URL and track its loads.
- Support uploads for audio, video, images, PDFs, Word documents, folders, and other file types.
- Use SVG icons for 25 file types or assign individual custom icons.
- Preview supported files in the browser.
- Open images and videos in a lightbox, including YouTube, MP4, WebM, OGG, and MOV content.
- Set expiration dates and download limits for individual files.
- Display files in site search results.
Search, access, and front-end uploads
Visitors can search all files from the front end, with filters based on categories, tags, and custom field data. PRO supports different file-opening permissions for users and roles. Visitors may be allowed to upload files without logging in, while other setups can limit uploads to logged-in users. Front-end uploaders can also add files to new categories, and any user role can be allowed to edit files from the front end.
Favorites are available for logged-in and non-logged-in users. A wait-countdown page can show a counter before automatic downloading begins. Download pages can also be isolated from the rest of the file list.
Statistics and notifications
Track download activity with download counters, a download log, and a search log for front-end searches. The plugin can identify the most popular files, including the top 50, and can log the downloader’s city and country. City and country information is also available in the search log. Email notifications can be sent when a file is uploaded or downloaded.
