Ad-free print, PDF, and email tools
PrintFriendly Pro Subscription is the paid, ad-free edition of Print, PDF & Email by PrintFriendly. It helps publishers give visitors a polished way to print articles, create PDFs, or email page content while reducing unnecessary paper and ink. The plugin automatically detects page content, so publishers do not need to create a separate print.css file.
The Pro subscription removes the advertisements shown in the free version’s print, PDF, and email confirmation window. It is also described as GDPR compliant, making it an option for publishers who need the Pro experience for a domain.
Visitor-friendly content preparation
Visitors can open an editable preview before printing or creating a PDF. From that preview, they can change text and image size and delete content they do not need. This can help produce a more focused document and save additional paper and ink.
PrintFriendly supports printing, PDF generation, and email sharing. Generated PDFs can include clickable links and use either A4 or Letter paper sizes. The interface is designed to be polished and intuitive, while the plugin works on HTTP, HTTPS, and password-protected sites.
Publisher customization
- Turn print, PDF, and email options on or off as needed.
- Add custom headers and footers to print and PDF outputs.
- Choose from available button styles or use custom text and an image or button.
- Include a copyright notice on printed pages and PDFs.
- Apply your own CSS for greater control over the print or PDF page.
- Choose the JavaScript or non-JavaScript option.
These settings allow publishers to adapt the presentation to their website and content type without giving up the core print, PDF, and email workflow. The plugin is also compatible with social sharing plugins including Social Snap, Social Pug, NovaShare, and Shareaholic.
Language and data handling
PrintFriendly & PDF detects the end user’s browser language and can display its interface in 30 languages. Supported examples include English, German, Spanish, French, Italian, Dutch, Portuguese, Swedish, Turkish, Hebrew, Korean, Simplified Chinese, and Traditional Chinese.
PDFs are generated on the service’s server, and email sharing is sent by that server. Page content is sent or stored for PDF generation, after which the PDF is temporarily stored to allow downloading and then permanently deleted. For the non-JavaScript option, the preview is temporarily cached for a few minutes before deletion. Email addresses and content are permanently deleted after the email has been sent and found not to be from a spammer.
Installation and setup
Install Print, PDF & Email by PrintFriendly on the WordPress site, activate it, and configure the available print, PDF, email, display, and customization options. Select the Pro subscription for an ad-free experience, then review the output on the site. Publishers can choose their preferred button presentation, add headers or footers, apply CSS, and select the JavaScript or non-JavaScript option.
