Flexible WooCommerce product importing
WP All Import Pro with the WooCommerce add-on is designed for moving product data into WooCommerce from XML, CSV, Google Sheets, Excel files, and URLs. It supports files in practically any format or structure, so your source data does not need to follow a fixed layout before you begin.
The import screen is arranged to resemble WooCommerce on one side, while product details from the source file appear in a table on the other. Drag and drop incoming values into the appropriate WooCommerce fields, then run the import and review the resulting product data.
Supported product types and data sources
- Import products from XML, CSV, Excel, and Google Sheets.
- Download and import data from a URL, including Google Sheets and external websites using HTTP authentication.
- Import external or affiliate products.
- Import grouped products.
- Work with variable products, including variations from properly formatted XML.
- Add new variations to existing variable products through the WooCommerce Products import workflow.
The WooCommerce add-on also provides dedicated mapping for product images, attributes, categories, tags, and other taxonomies. Product image data can be included during field mapping, while the Attributes tab helps connect incoming attribute values with the relevant WooCommerce product fields.
Catalog updates and recurring imports
WP All Import Pro can periodically check a file for changes through cron job or recurring imports. Depending on the incoming data, it can add, edit, delete, and update the stock status of imported products. This is useful for catalogs that change regularly or for stores that receive product information from an external source.
The importer automatically splits large files into chunks and supports files of practically unlimited size. The source material specifically describes importing product catalogs larger than 200 MB, including on shared hosting. CSV files can be edited when column names need to be changed, and UTF-8 encoding is recommended when special characters cause import difficulties.
Custom data processing
The Pro edition supports execution of custom PHP functions on imported data. A value from an XML field can be passed to a custom function in the import template, allowing the function’s returned value to be used in the mapped data.
Practical workflow
- Go to All Import > New Import.
- Upload the import file or use an available URL source.
- Choose WooCommerce Products as the import type.
- Map incoming data to product fields with the drag-and-drop interface.
- Run the import and verify the imported products.
