Flexible author management for WordPress
PublishPress Authors Pro is a paid edition for managing and displaying authors across WordPress content. It supports single authors, multiple authors, coauthors, and guest authors, helping sites give appropriate credit to everyone involved in creating posts and other content.
The plugin provides author boxes that can include an author’s name, biography, avatar, description, and other profile details. You can display these boxes beneath content, replace the default author display, add them to widgets or Gutenberg blocks, insert them with shortcodes, or use filters and actions in template files.
Show one or multiple authors
WordPress normally assigns one author to a post. PublishPress Authors allows you to assign multiple authors to each post from the editing screen. This is useful for editorial teams, collaborative articles, reviews, interviews, and other content where several people should receive visible credit.
Guest authors can also be created without requiring a standard connected account. You can add guest authors through the dedicated Guest Author user role or create them without an account. Guest authors can be displayed in the same way as linked users and can have a full profile, avatar, and individual archive page.
Build useful author displays
Author Boxes includes five default layouts. You can use these layouts, customize them, or create your own author box layout. Author information can be presented in the locations that fit your site, including content areas, widgets, blocks, and shortcode placements.
Author Categories help distinguish different types of contributors. You can label people as authors, contributors, editors, reviewers, photographers, or other categories relevant to your publishing workflow. Pro also includes an Author Categories Box for grouping authors by category in a dedicated display format.
Extend author profiles
Author Fields allow you to customize the details associated with each author. Available profile information can include names, email addresses, websites, job titles, social media details, and other fields. The Pro edition supports Text, WYSIWYG, Link, and email address fields, which can be placed in author biography profiles through custom layouts. Supported social profile examples include Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube, and TikTok.
Author lists and pages
Create custom author displays with Author Lists. An Author Index can organize authors alphabetically and let visitors select a starting letter. An Author Recent view can show authors together with their latest posts.
Author Pages can replace the default WordPress author pages without changing their URLs. You can show an author box above the author’s posts and select a List or Grid presentation. Page layouts can also be customized through the available settings.
Installation and workflow
Install PublishPress Authors in WordPress, then configure author profiles, fields, categories, and display layouts. When editing content, assign the relevant users or guest authors. Finally, choose where author boxes, lists, or pages should appear using the available display options.
