AI Alt Text Generator Pro is an optional upgrade for AI Alt Text Generator, designed for WordPress sites that need a more continuous way to manage image descriptions. It builds on the base plugin’s ability to generate concise, WCAG-aligned alt text and adds tools for stores, larger media libraries, and teams tracking image coverage over time.
The Pro add-on is especially useful when images are added regularly or when accessibility work needs to be managed as an ongoing process rather than a one-time cleanup. It supports a workflow that combines WooCommerce product context, background processing, progress monitoring, and added assistance for the plugin itself.

WooCommerce product context
For stores using WooCommerce, Pro can use product context when generating alt text. This helps produce commerce-aware descriptions that are more relevant to the product page and its images. The feature extends the base plugin’s page-context awareness with information suited to product-based websites.
Scheduled background scans
Pro adds scheduled background scans for new and existing images. Instead of relying only on manual processing, you can set the plugin to describe images automatically as part of an ongoing site workflow. This is useful for shops, publishers, organizations, and other sites whose media library changes frequently.
Coverage analytics
The coverage analytics dashboard helps you track progress toward complete alt text coverage. It provides a central way to monitor how much of the image library has been addressed, making it easier to identify remaining gaps and organize follow-up work.
Automatic updates and priority support
The paid add-on includes automatic updates and priority support. These are intended to simplify maintenance and provide a higher-priority assistance channel while you use the Pro features.
How it fits with the base plugin
AI Alt Text Generator already supports bulk processing, automatic generation on upload, custom prompts, multilingual output, prompt testing, WP-CLI commands, and integrations with focus keyphrases from Yoast SEO, Rank Math, and SEOPress. It can also use page context and optionally set an image’s title, caption, and description from generated text.
Generation uses an external AI service. By default, the plugin connects to the managed credits service, which provides 50 free images per month for each site, with paid credit plans available beyond that tier. Alternatively, advanced users can add their own OpenAI or Anthropic API key and choose a vision-capable model offered by their provider. Images and metadata are sent to the selected external service for processing, and an active internet connection is required.

Installation
Install and activate the base AI Alt Text Generator plugin, then add and activate the Pro upgrade. Configure the available Pro settings for WooCommerce context, scheduled scans, and coverage tracking. Choose the managed credits service or add your own OpenAI or Anthropic key in the advanced settings, then review the external-service requirements before generating descriptions.
