Customize WordPress styles with greater control
Child Theme Configurator PRO is a WordPress styling utility for creating and customizing child themes while extending CSS editing to installed plugins. It helps you identify the exact selectors, properties, and values used by a theme or plugin, then apply targeted changes without modifying the parent theme directly.
A child theme provides a practical place for custom styles. When the parent theme is updated, changes stored in the child theme can remain separate from the parent theme’s files. Child Theme Configurator analyzes the theme structure and helps configure the child theme according to the theme being used.
Analyze and edit CSS visually
The analyzer scans the rendered theme and parses its stylesheets, indexing media queries, selectors, properties, and values. Search for a specific CSS selector or search by property to locate the styles you want to change. This makes it easier to target elements such as headings, colors, backgrounds, and font styles without searching through stylesheet code manually.
As you work, the plugin shows how customizations will look before you commit them to the child theme. You can adjust colors with hex, RGBA, or named values using the Spectrum color picker, customize responsive @media queries, and add fallback styles with multiple values for a property.
The tool can also generate cross-browser and vendor-prefixed properties and CSS gradients. Stylesheets can be enqueued rather than loaded with @import, and the plugin correctly handles theme and font stylesheets for the child theme.
PRO plugin stylesheet customization
The PRO edition applies the CSS customization features to WordPress plugins installed on the site. It scans plugin stylesheets and lets you create custom CSS in your child themes, giving you a way to adjust plugin presentation alongside the rest of the site’s design.
This is useful when a plugin’s default appearance does not match the site. Locate the relevant selectors, override specific properties, preview the result, and save the changes in the child theme rather than editing the plugin’s original files.
Child-theme workflow
Create any number of child themes from installed parent themes, including existing child themes, and save the results in the Themes directory. The tool can copy existing widgets, menus, and Customizer options to the child theme. You can also locate, copy, and edit theme templates from the WordPress admin, use web fonts, and export child themes as ZIP archives.
Child Theme Configurator supports Multisite. It uses the WordPress Filesystem API and is designed not to create files that cannot be removed. Before activation, preview and test the child theme, particularly when working with themes that do not correctly load parent templates or child stylesheets.
